{"id":45,"date":"2022-05-08T03:21:17","date_gmt":"2022-05-08T03:21:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cornishsa.org.au\/?page_id=45"},"modified":"2025-10-21T14:36:46","modified_gmt":"2025-10-21T04:06:46","slug":"choir","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/cornishsa.org.au\/?page_id=45","title":{"rendered":"Choir"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Music and singing have been an important part of the Cornish culture, and cornish emigrants brought this culture to Australia with them in the 1800s. <strong>Several incarnations of a Cornish choir have existed in South Australia since the 1860s. <\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The most recent choir first began in the mid 1990s when a group of people in the Cornish Association of South Australia (CASA), who enjoyed singing, got together to put on a Christmas concert for the other society members. This grew both in numbers and standard of performances, and the choir performed concerts of a high standard to groups within the community, including church groups, retirement villages, hostels and nursing homes.<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The choir recently wound up in 2025, due to the increasing age of many members, with the last concert in June.<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20200302012531\/http:\/\/www.cornishsa.org.au\/choir\/choir-membership\/\"><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Music and singing have been an important part of the Cornish culture, and cornish emigrants brought this culture to Australia with them in the 1800s.
