{"id":27,"date":"2022-03-21T10:57:46","date_gmt":"2022-03-21T10:57:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cornishsa.org.au\/?page_id=27"},"modified":"2026-07-29T10:57:39","modified_gmt":"2026-07-29T01:27:39","slug":"events","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/cornishsa.org.au\/?page_id=27","title":{"rendered":"Events"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><\/h1>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Past Meetings and Events<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Tuesday 19th&nbsp;August 2025<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The CASA Annual General Meeting was held.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Tuesday 21st&nbsp;October 2025<\/strong> <strong>7:30pm<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">CASA members held a meeting discussing the future of the association, with members contributing thoughts and ideas on their interests and possible activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">2026<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Wednesday 7th January 2026<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Cornish musical folk group Fisherman&#8217;s Friends performed the first concert on their first-ever Australian tour at the sold-out (and packed) Thebarton Theatre in Adelaide. CASA members, amid many other fans, had a great evening listening and joining in on many folk songs and shanties. Noel had a chance to briefly meet the group beforehand and welcome them to Australia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"542\" height=\"340\" src=\"https:\/\/cornishsa.org.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/NC-and-FF-Jan26.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-507\" srcset=\"https:\/\/cornishsa.org.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/NC-and-FF-Jan26.jpg 542w, https:\/\/cornishsa.org.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/NC-and-FF-Jan26-300x188.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 542px) 100vw, 542px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We&#8217;re keenly looking forward to their next Australian tour!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Tuesday 17th February 2026, 7.30 pm<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Lainie Anderson OAM gave a talk about Kate Cocks, and her second historical fiction novel &#8220;Murder on North Terrace&#8221; about Kate\u2019s work in our police force.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Tuesday 21 April 2026, 7:30pm<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Tuesday 16 June 2026, 6:30pm<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The annual CASA Pasty tea, with attendees enjoying  home-made soup &amp; specially-made Cornish pasties. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Upcoming Meetings<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">2026<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Tuesday 18 August 2026, 7:30pm<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The CASA Annual General Meeting. Please keep this date free; the AGM means time for some serious<br>consideration of the future of our Association. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Also, we are looking forward to a talk by our patron, Matt Curnow, on the development of the Cornish language in Cornwall.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Tuesday 20 October 2026, 7:30pm<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Guest speaker David Parham will talk on Adelaide buildings with a cornish connection.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Meetings are held at the Unley Community Centre at 18 Arthur St (immediately north of the Unley Shopping Centre). <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Past Meetings and Events Tuesday 19th&nbsp;August 2025 The CASA Annual General Meeting was held.
